The application process is centralized at the university and requires TWO steps as described below:

- Effective with the Fall 2021 application cycle, unofficial academic transcripts must be uploaded as part of the 加州申请 application. Please plan to have them readily available at time of university admission application submission. 秋季入学, transcripts should include coursework completed through the preceding fall term (usually ending in December). 春季入学, transcripts should include coursework completed through the preceding summer term (usually ending in August).
- 请注意: If you are a current (or former) 加州大学洛杉矶分校 student, the 加州大学洛杉矶分校 transcript does 不 need to be submitted to the 招生 Office.
- If you have studied at an institution outside of the US, you will need to have your foreign academic work evaluated by the International Education 研究 Foundation (IERF) or World Education Services (WES) for securing admission into the program.
- IERF ——访问 http://apply.ierf.org/ to create an online application requesting the “详细的报告”. The foreign evaluation fee is $165 (USD). When submitting your course work to IERF 请 make sure to indicate that you were referred by "CSU Los Angeles-Office of 研究生 招生" and that you would like to have the official agency copy of the evaluation report sent directly to CSU Los Angeles-Office of 研究生 招生.
- 韦斯- 访问 http://www.wes.org/fees/evaltypes.asp to create an online application. You will need to order the course-by-course evaluation report. The cost is $160 for the WES Basic or $205 for the WES ICAP.

- If you do 不 possess a Bachelor's (or advanced) degree from a postsecondary college/university where English is the only language of instruction, you will need to submit official TOEFL, 雅思考试, or PTE test scores to the 加州大学洛杉矶分校 招生 Office. Be aware, scores are only valid for two years from exam date. Duolingo English Test will be also accepted for the English Language Proficiency Exams.

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field with an overall GPA of 3.0 or better to be considered for full admission (a.k.a "Classified 研究生 Standing").
Some applicants are admitted provisionally with Certain Conditions (a.k.a. “Conditionally Classified 研究生 Standing”). The MSCS program requires new students to satisfy the given conditions during their first term of enrollment.
A promising applicant with a GPA between 2.5和2.99 may be conditionally admitted as a special action student. Special action students must achieve an overall GPA of 3.0 for four qualifying courses as approved in advance by the department.
Promising applicants from non-CS majors or non-ABET accredited CS programs may be conditionally admitted and required to complete prerequisite课程. These students are given up to three prerequisites (based on the evaluation of their transcripts). Three prerequisites are fundamental CS 3000-level core courses from

学生 admitted under “Conditionally Classified 研究生 Standing” can request the opportunity to remove any of the assigned prerequisite conditions with appropriate documentation. The request will be processed by the graduate committee individually.
The Computer Science Department will conduct advisement/orientation sessions (prior to the start of their first semester) for all new incoming graduate students. 学生 would be guided to set up a study plan to complete all the prerequisites in the first semester.
