加州大学洛杉矶分校's 化学 and 生物化学 Department offers many research opportunities. 学生 engage in collaborative research with faculty and produce written research reports, with the option to present the results of their research at professional conferences. Student research has led to the publication of over 50 manuscripts with student co-authors in scientific journals.

Department instrumentation and facilities include:
- Three NMR spectrometers ranging in field strength from 400 MHz to 600 MHz, all equipped with DRX and AVANCE consoles. A variety of nuclei may be observed: 1H, 13C, 31P, 19F. Variable temperature control is available, over the range of -50 to 80 degrees.
